Oh Tim Tebow... I by no means idolize you... I just think you're amazing! And so do millions of others.
Tebow is the incredible quarter-back for the Florida Gators, and is a well-known Christian athlete. Because of his game-winning passes and outstanding records, the press is very attracted to him.
Recently, he was asked to do an anti-abortion commercial, aired during the Super Bowl, for Focus on the Family, a Christian organization, in which he made a great commercial with his mom. His mom was in a different country on a missions trip when she was pregnant with Tim, and was told to have an abortion, but felt like God told her to not do it. She listened to Him, and because of her decision, we have an amazing man and football player.
Oddly enough though, a national coalition of women's groups called on CBS to not air an ad about the Tebow's story. "This campaign is about holding CBS and the NFL and the other Super Bowl advertisers accountable for inserting an exceedingly controversial issue into a place where we all hope Americans will be united, not divided, in terms of watching America's most-watched sporting event" said Jehmu Greene, president of the Women's Media Center.
According to CBS, the commercial never even says anti-abortion or pro-life. Some sources say that CBS is doing it simply for money, after losing sponsors, while CBS defends themselves, saying that all ads -on all sides of the issue- are ensured on being appropriate for air.
Not only was this a big ordeal for CBS and ABC, but the whole situation was very much publicized. And poor Tim was stuck in the middle, after simply standing up for what he believes. Isn't this infringement of freedom of speech?
