...video..."Tiger was really prowling around here, taking a good look John, and he was pretty close to where he aimed it, let's see if he got it right..." and in went the ball, making him not only a winner, but one of the greatest golfers of all time! But when he was prowling around the golf course, he was also on the prowl for women besides his wife, the mother of his children!
The story began to roll, like a ball on a steep slope, heading straight for the sandpit. And then he was stuck. And the sand began to cave in around him, and drown him. "Squeaky clean" Tiger Woods was no longer clean.. in any way. He had spent thousands of dollars on thousands... well... a lot of girls, and for what? Speculations poured out, and so did women: lots of women, who claimed that they had done "stuff" with Woods. Turns out, they were right. So that's the story... what does this have to do with the media?
The paragraph prior to this one I wrote all by memory: this story was on literally every channel (besides the Disney channel... but ya know... maybe in a year or two they'll make a movie with a tiger or something?). It filled front pages, covers, news reports both national and local. Tiger Woods does not live in Indiana, and I'm really not too concerned who he's slept with. Yet we must know because we totally care. NOT! Sure, he's a "public figure", but he became one because of the media in the first place.
Here's what I think: he used the media to become well-known; the media can use him to become well-known. While it may be annoying, there's no reason why they shouldn't have the right to cover his story: he wouldn't be where he is without the positive front pages, covers, and news reports. It is annoying as all get-out, but I think it can be broad casted on certain television shows, like entertainment ones: not CNN.
I don't know whether I want the guy to crash and burn or get back up and succeed... I guess we'll see, thanks to the media.
