Dumb things happen when people are drunk; such things generally make most laugh. This was no exception... for most anyways.
April 7th, 2010: two girls got their butts slapped: an assault, or perhaps a "buttsault"? (That was me being clever). Most would laugh at such a thing, walking on campus and getting slapped on the buttox by a drunk guy riding a bike: but one of the girls called the police, and it all began. I am not criticizing her for calling in... that's not the problem at all. My beef is with the reporters from not only around the state, but the country, talking about this event as if it affected their life somehow. No, this wasn't an "invasion of privacy" per se, but I'm pretty sure the girl who called in the assault didn't want this to go global.
There isn't a war going on or government issues or global problems going on, but hey, a girl got her butt slapped: that should go on our 6 o'clock news!
As one of the Ball State students said, "This is like the boy who cried wolf: first they're gonna make a big deal out of this and no body's gonna take the broadcast seriously anymore". I totally agree! Not to mention the fact that they're giving this guy so much attention: I can just see him gloating in it; isn't this just gonna make more people want to try something like this so they get the same attention?
Common news: is this seriously all you've got?
